FAQ and the deets...

Are you a dog trainer?

No, I am not a dog trainer.  I simply have years of experience

and passion owning and caring for dogs.

Do you have any special training?

I am Fear Free Certified plus I have pet CPR and First Aid Training.

Can you walk more than one dog?

If you have multiple dogs you want walked, I will start with one at a time and add as I feel comfortable, splitting the time equally between dogs or as advised by you.

Do you walk other people's dogs with mine?

I currently don't offer group walks. HOWEVER, I do have my own personal dog who may occasionally join us on our walks if your dog is dog friendly.

Will you walk a reactive dog?

If you have a reactive dog or one that is difficult to walk, I will start slow and build upon trust and our relationship first.  That might mean spending time in the yard, or driveway.  It might mean playing some games first.  Remember brain work is also a way to burn energy PLUS build a rapport between us.  However, if I enter your home and your dog is protective and will not let me enter, I will try to coax with food (unless I am told not to give treats) and non-threatening behaviors but if I am not able to enter the premises safely you are still responsible for the cost of the visit, and we will discuss ideas on how to move forward.

Do you train dogs how to walk correctly on a leash?

No, like I said above; I am not a trainer.  I do not train a dog to heal nor "not pull".  However, I do encourage good leash behavior for the safety of your dog and myself.

Will you spend the whole time walking my dog?

I do a combination of brisk walking and allowing your dog to "sniff". Walking your dog isn't just about the physical exercise; it's also a fantastic opportunity for mental enrichment. Allowing your dog to sniff during walks is essential for their well-being, providing them with mental stimulation reducing stress. Sniffing enables them to explore their environment, much like we read a book or solve a puzzle, which can be both tiring and satisfying.

What type of leashes or collars do you use?

I use my own hands-free belt leash combo and your collar or harness.  While walking dogs I recommend a martingale collar.  They are virtually escape-proof and pretty reasonably priced on Amazon.  If you don't want to purchase one, it is your responsibility to make sure your collar/harness is sized correctly and will not slip off your pet. So it is imperative you check it often.

Do you transport dogs to parks to walk them?

No, I prefer to walk them in your neighborhood.

Will you still go for a walk if it’s raining or "hot"?

Rain?  YES! We live in Washington, and a bit of rain is no problem at all. I’m more than happy to put an owner supplied raincoat on your dog. Also, leave me a towel and I will dry him/her off when we are done. The only weather conditions that prevent us from walking outside are ice or heavy snow in which we will do a short potty break and do some enrichment activities inside your home.  On the flip side, if it is 85 degrees or warmer and the pavement is hot to my touch we will take a quick potty break and spend our time in the shade of your yard or inside doing some enrichment activities.  Your walking spot is reserved just for you, and please note that there are no refunds for cancellations due to weather related issues.

When will you arrive for my dog's walk?

When working with animals, expect the unexpected! Whether it’s a spilled water bowl, a scared cat hiding, or a messy goat pen, each day brings its own surprises. I manage multiple clients and your pets’ well-being is my top priority, no matter the challenges we face!  With that said, I work with in windows of time vs specific times.  I try my best though to keep in mind the needs of each situation and schedule and make sure not to leave anyone waiting too long.

When do I pay for services?

Payment is payable prior to services rendered.  (Cash preferred)

What is your cancellation policy?

24-hour notice prior to walk is required in order to not be charged for service.
